It’s a known fact that even the largest hard drives and quickest processors tend to lose out on performance, thanks to software that is big, in terms of size, and the amount of RAM required to run it without any glitches.
We call these programs ‘bloatware’ which can be replaced by smaller programs that are just as effective.
So here are 3 alternatives to the worst bloatware offenders:
#1: Adobe Reader
Most people think that Adobe Reader is the only option available in order to read PDF documents. That is not the case as a suitable alternative would be the use of Sumatra PDF that not only reads these documents just as well but consumes a fraction of the drive space that Adobe – while not taking into account the additional bloatware the Adobe tries to sneak in from time to time.
#2: Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Outlook, while being the most popular option out there to send and receive email, is, for all practical purposes, bloated. The reason for this is because the number of features it comes with are largely unused by basic users, and which is why it is a good idea to use an alternative such as ThunderBird.
Best of all – it’s free!
#3: Instant Messaging Programs
While Facebook and Google+ can be used for chat, there are other programs to be used such as AIM, Google and Yahoo Chat. The problem is that with these programs, one will have to install them and that slows windows down further.
The Alternative: use the IMO Messenger which does not need to be installed as it can accessed most, if not all, instant messaging services from your browser itself – and in one place too.
