Experts believe that Apple has released the most dramatic iOS update that will impact more people in shorter period than any other prior update.
Phil Libin, CEO of Evernote, reveals how big a change this is, in saying, “Measured by the number of people that are going to see a big change within the same 24-hour period. I think iOS 7 is the biggest day in technology ever. There’s never been another day like this in the history of the universe where hundreds of millions of people will see a big change to something that they’re used to. Nothing of this scale has ever occurred.”
To add perspective to this statement, it must be said that our computing lives is from a smartphone, where only six years ago, Microsoft, took a lion’s share of OS market while Apple’s operating system took only 5%.
All that has changed now with both iOS and Android reducing Microsoft’s numbers to only 35% of the market while their share stands at 45%.
Which brings us to OS updates, and which is where iOS updates are embraced far more than Android and Windows 8, thanks to a focused devices strategy and tightly controlled model which does away with partner licensing and carrier concessions.
So, compared to the other two operating systems for smartphones, experts believe this iOS update, that is a clear rethink, will have an 80% adoption rate over the next 3 months. This is corroborated by the fact that iPhone device sales have risen exponentially over the last few years.
But what makes this update all that more appealing that with it being a radical change from previous operating systems, it now offer iOS app developers the perfect opportunity to make their mark in the Apple universe.
