Apple has recently launched a blog pertaining to its new language, Swift, which makes it easier to build applications for Mac OSX and iOS.
This comes as a change for the tech giant that believes in concealing a product until the very last moment. Of course, since this is a language, Apple recognizes that in order for this language to succeed, developers cannot be kept in the dark.
The blog, which deals with Swift, has been created so as to help smoothen the transition between Objective-C and Swift, as developers continue to build applications for its platforms.
That said, since Swift is still in technical development, feedback from developers about its use is vital to this process – the most important reason why they’ve opened a blog for the language.
Since this seems to be a first for Apple, a number of developers are expressing their surprise at Apple’s openness, ranging from making snide remarks or even honest ones about “how times have changed”.
Speaking of the content on the blog itself, there’s only one post made so far which has to do with developers having questions about being able to use Swift in production code since the language is still in development.
To which Apple’s post promptly responded, in saying, “Simply put, if you write a Swift app today and submit it to the App Store this Fall when iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are released, you can trust that your app will work well into the future. In fact, you can target back to OS X Mavericks or iOS 7 with that same app.”
