According to rumors, there are three new Macs in development that feature the new co-processor found in the iMac Pro. Also, Apple is also testing a new iPad for release.
The iMac Pro features a new coprocessor that is similar in principle to the T1 found in the MacBook Pro laptops with Touchbar. The T2 coprocessor in the iMac Pro does a lot more. The T2 adds Secure Boot, SSD Control, and also acts as the DSP for the FaceTime camera. It is only logical that Apple would add those same features to the existing MacBook lineup, and possibly the upcoming Mac Pro. There is no indication if the coprocessor is the T2 or a new version with more features.
There are a few more details on the new iPad. Th rumors indicate that Apple could add FaceID to the iPad and match the design aesthetic of the iPhone X. The device could even get the iPad X monitor to match the phone lineup. There are fan mockups of the iPad that matchesa the iPhone X, and the designs look very compelling. We don’t know how Apple would handle an edge-to-edge iPad display, but Apple could make the design work.
The Apple device lineup for 2018 looks exciting with new MacBooks, the possibility of a modular Mac Pro, and an iPad with an all-new design. It could be another good year for Apple and its fans.
